I’ve been a nurse since 2012 and, although I’ve spent a number of years working in intensive care, I’ve never dealt with anything like this. The most difficult part is going in with all guns blazing, not knowing that you’ll definitely come out of it fine.

The GP practice where I work is well resourced with plenty of PPE, as we were forward-thinking and ordered it early, but even so, six staff (out of 35-40) were off work last week with suspected Covid-19 symptoms. It feels like a matter of time before we all come down with it. We’ve resigned ourselves [to it].

Last month, a nurse who works at a GP practice in the same building died after contracting it. It was an awful day. We knew it was coming and we were warned from the beginning that we’d lose people we know and love and work with, but it didn’t feel real until it happened....
